*Media Invite*

Have you heard of Ronald McDonald’s House Charities (RMHC) before? Yes? Do you know what they do? Well, neither did I.

So when an invitation came from omy.sg to attend a get-to-know-RMHC session, I signed up to find out more. Together with 14 other bloggers, we were treated to a cozy meal at McDonalds, Suntec City. There, Executive Director of RMHC Singapore, Judy Chin explained to us:

Since 1989, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Singapore has helped over 900 needy and sick children with their medical, surgical, and rehabilitative treatment costs, with grants amounting to over S$5 million. The charity has also provided a “home-away-from-home” at no charge for families to be able to stay close to their hospitalised child at the National University Hospital (NUH).

Perhaps this video provides a clearer picture of the “home-away-from-home”:

Does it sound like a charity you can get behind? Here is how you can help!

1. Buy a pair of socks
From 15 October to 28 October, you can make a donation to the charity by purchasing a pair of red and white striped socks (pictured above) via Groupon. Feel free to donate $10, $20 or $50. In appreciation of each purchase, McDonald’s has included a free Strawberry Sundae treat that can be redeemed at any McDonald’s restaurant in Singapore.

2. Share Your Stripes and raise awareness through Instagram
Help the charity spread the word by dressing in red and white stripes, donning on the socks, or creating your own red-and-white themed images. Share these images along with your well wishes for these families on Instagram with #forRMHC and #RMHCSG.

3. Join in the fun at McHappy Day on 16 November 2014
Families with young children are welcomed to attend #forRMHC Party at Tampines Mall from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. Members of the public can join in on the fun and participate at the various booths that offer balloon sculpting, face painting for children, games and more. You can also get your photos taken with Ronald McDonald.

600 volunteers will also be participating in the McHappy Day Walk and Sale across Singapore, selling the signature red and white striped socks. So if you see them around, do make a purchase and don those socks.
