8 Fun Things You’ll Find From Singapore To Kuala Lumpur

TRAVEL

Travelling can be a pain and it can be fun, especially with kids in tow. Parents would know what I mean.

There is a world of new things for your kid to explore and discover. A kids binocular is the best gift you can give them in this journey of discovery. It will encourage them to go outdoors and explore their surrounding, which is not only important for their healthy growth but also a lot of fun.

Today’s entry, we’re looking at the fun side of travelling. Where are we travelling to? Today I’m thinking something much closer to home. Let’s see what we can find if we are travelling from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur for the holidays. If you’re going beyond Johor, you would probably need a flight. Because we all know that road-trip with young kids ain’t fun.

There are various airlines providing this travel route and you can find it all using the Traveloka platform. Who are they? One of the growing OTA in the market. Thought I give a shoutout because I just saw their ad on YouTube. They constantly have interesting promotions too.

So.. back to the topic at hand. You can probably find more than eight fun things in both Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, but since I ain’t got all day to write a thesis on it, I’ll just settle for eight. It’s a lucky number after all!

Universal Studio

Every overseas parent I know would make it a point to visit Universal Studio when they are in Singapore. Ever since its grand opening on May 28th, 2011, this place has been one of the highlights for tourists. Kudos to them! Inside, you will get to see all sorts of attractions in seven iconic themes – New York, Hollywood, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away and Madagascar. Thinking of move it, move it?

Sisters’ Islands Marine Park

Are you looking for clear, blue water? You will hit the jackpot with this place. The islands are two of the Southern Islands in Singapore. It’s interesting that they are called “sisters”, right? This is because from afar, you can see they are sort of connected. They are side by side, kinda like sisters! Anyways, here on the marine park, you can snorkel and see the wonders of aquatic life in plain sight. If you are lucky enough, you will get to see dolphins too!

Mount Faber

Hiking takes another meaning when you come to Mount Faber. Located in Bukit Merah town in the Central Region of the state, this mountain will give you the convenient access to experience some hiking activities with your family and friends. There’s a steel bridge that connects all the way to the top, giving you the VIP clearance to hike-ish without much hassle. Along the way, you will have the perfect view of the city, nature and the floral around.

Sembawang Hot Spring

Who does not like dipping yourself (I repeat, dipping, not skinny dipping) in the natural hot spring. This lovely hot spring is at Gambas Avenue between Woodlands Avenue 12 and Sembawang Road. This is the one and only natural hot spring in Singapore. If you ever have body ache and feel gassy inside, you can always dip in and let nature do its magic. I heard you’ll feel a million times lighter once you get out.

Petronas Twin Tower

Known as the iconic skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur. This twin tower was ranked as the tallest building in the word from 1998 to 2004 and still holds the spot for the world’s tallest twin towers up until now. Located along Jalan Ampang, this tower stands at 1,483 feet in height and it’s a beautiful sight if you ask me. This is a common tourist location whenever they come to Kuala Lumpur. You can even go up to the bridge and enjoy the view of the city. The bridge might move around a bit, but it’s normal, so, don’t worry if that happens.

Kuala Lumpur Tower

This single tower is the first tower to ever built in Kuala Lumpur. For locals, it holds that vintage and sentimental value to it. The tower is actually a communication tower built in 1994. It stands at 1,381 feet in height. Fun facts, the tower is also used as the crescent moon observatory for the Islamic calendar. Pretty neat stuff, huh? Anyways, that is not the only main thing that put this legendary tower on the front page, it’s the revolving restaurants that will put you in awe. Back in the days, revolving restaurants is not a trend like it is now, so, back then, this was the thing, you know? It’s like the pioneer of revolving restaurants.

Kuala Lumpur Bird Park

This bird park span over 20 acres of land with nothing but various species of birds as its inhabitants. If you are a bird or animal lover, you will be thrilled to be walking in a place where all you can see are birds roaming free around you. In its records, there are over 3,000 birds occupying this bird park. Is it not crazy? The bird park located adjacent to the Lake Gardens – which is another great place to hang around. Normally, the Lake Gardens area is used for recreational and afternoon leisure. It’s a great family environment if you are looking to bring your family during your visit here in Kuala Lumpur.

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park

The biggest water theme park in town! Sunway Lagoon has been here since forever and I remember going as a child. Since then, it has gone through several upgrades and facelifts. Now, Sunway Lagoon provides all the fun things you have in your “Water Fun Time” list, from giant tunnels to slides, they have it all. Located in Bandar Sunway, the place itself is like Bermuda in its own sense. You have three hotels – for every budget, a mall, the theme park and even a tertiary institutions. This place could actually be your only stop in Kuala Lumpur!
