But we are all wiser now. In my effort to look fresh and radiance and hopefully young(ish) looking, I hereby share my plan to give my skin a beautifying detox boost.

1. Eat well – Choose grain-fed meat and organic dairy, consume less sugar and eat more alkaline-forming foods.

2.  Embark on a ‘less is more’ 3-steps skin care routine- Exfoliate, moisturise and protect with sunscreen.

So today, I will talk about the mosturisers I use for my skin detoxifying effort. Janssen Cosmetics from Germany has come up with an innovative new edition skin care range, called DETOX. It comes in two formulation – Detox Formula the award winning,  Detox Cream.

2 key active detoxification substances in both the Detox Cream and Detox Formula are avocado peptide and yeast extract with polysaccharide α-glucan; which break down and recycle cell waste products, reduces the enrichment of the protein membrane complex lipofuscin, thereby reducing age spots; increases light reflection and leaves the skin looking smooth with fresher radiance.

Besides a whole bunch of mosturising ingredients (too many to list!), the cream and formula also contains Vitamin E acetate that works by penetrating into the skin and serves as a radical scavenger; particularly protects lipid membranes from oxidation; preventative cell protection against premature skin aging.

The Detox Formula comes in a pump bottle. I use it right after cleansing in the morning. It is light, but not in a watery way. It absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue. I can’t help but keep touching my face after application because my skin feels reaaaaally soft.

I usually don’t like to apply lotion/cream on my neck, although I know I’m supposed to, because I really hate that stickiness that follows. The detox formula however, is very light, I happily apply it on my neck and all the way over my shoulder and cleavage. That’s how much I love it.

I recommend using it during the day before make-up because the light texture is perfect for our hot and balmy weather. It is also suitable for oily and combination skin.

One the other hand, the Detox Cream is rich and luscious. Just a little goes a long way. I made the mistake of taking too much during my first application. With just a 10-cents amount of cream, I had enough for my entire face, neck and both arms!

The creamy texture is perfect as a night cream to prevent moisture loss while sleeping in air conditioned rooms. My dehydrated and dry skin feels thoroughly mosturised and smooth in the morning.

I didn’t take a ‘before’ photo when I started using the products about a week ago. So the photo on the left is actually one I took after coming home from a facial, a month ago. It was supposed to be an ‘after’ photo to document the facial. But look at the difference! I swear I didn’t photoshop the photos. I just don’t know how.

I never thought my dark eye circles could lightened so much. My entire complexion is clearer and has brightened up too, right? Oh man.. why didn’t anyone tell me about skin detox earlier? By the way, today’s photo was taken right after I woke up this morning. Pardon the messy bed head.
