Lauren Turns Six at Pororo Park + Giveaway!

KIDS, MOTHERHOOD | 44 comments

I guess I’ll always be a bit more emotional when it comes to Lauren’s birthday. Because it also marks the number of years I’ve been a mom.

Lauren is now more than half my height. She has lost most if not all of her baby fat and is no longer into Disney Jr. She watches all the tweeny shows on YouTube and borrows my phone to check out her favourite YouTuber’s Instagram account. I always feel like it won’t be long before she finds mommy no longer cool but at the moment, she absolutely loves to go on one-on-one outings with me.

We’ve been celebrating her birthdays at her kindergarten for the past two years and since she’s going to primary school next year and I heard you’re not allowed to host birthday party at school (read: no need for big celebration!), I thought I do something special for her this year and decided to celebrate her birthday party at Pororo Park.

For those who didn’t know, I used to be an event manager in Sydney, so kids’ parties are walks in the park for me. But still, there are lots of things to organise – setting-up, liaising with multiple vendors (cakes, catering, decor, performers, preparing cutleries, goodies bags, making sure the party run according to schedule and the part I hate most, packing up.

So imagine my surprise when I went to Pororo Park to confirm the date, I was told all I needed to do was to show up 15 minutes before the party. Bring ourselves and nothing else. Everything was taken care of. I was given a stack of Pororo themed invitation cards and an e-card (sent to my email) to distribute to friends.

Anyway, back to the girl of the hour. Lauren was over the moon when I told her that she’d be celebrating her birthday at Pororo Park. Here are some photos from the day:

Note: I have a special giveaway at the end of the post to bribe you to read till the end! Haha!

A typical girl, she is not! Lauren’s jaw fell open when we entered the party room.

Everything was set-up and ready for us! To be honest, my mouth was in an “O” shape for a while too. I love the natural light-filled room with cheerful colours. It makes it so easy for the amateur photographer (me!) to capture the sweet moments!

So first, a photo with the beautiful dessert table. Will couldn’t keep his hands off that cake, for obvious reasons.

Besides looking pretty, the desserts from Little House of Dreams were very yummy. Nick, who’s on a keto/low carb diet couldn’t resist and had about 3 cupcakes by himself. For someone who doesn’t eat a lot desserts, that says a LOT!

Also, I may or may not have six of these mini chocolate tarts. So good.

Of course, it wasn’t just all about the party room. Lauren and guests were treated to front row seats at Tong Tong’s Theatre for the Pororo show that afternoon.

After the show, we had dedicated party hosts to entertain the kids with party games, so parents could sit back, relax and take lots of photos. Actually, the party hosts helped us to take photos too!

The kids headed back into the party room to have their lunch. Have you ever seen a group of preschoolers seated so well and ate quietly at a party? Lunch was also prepared and served by the team at Pororo Park.

After lunch, Pororo himself came into the room to greet the children and stayed with us during the entire cake cutting ceremony. Shame he can’t eat any cakes! 😛

Speaking of cakes, we were given 4 choices of beautiful Pororo-themed fondant cakes to choose from and Lauren immediately picked this one. I love it when I don’t have to make decisions!

Little House of Dreams offers 7 delicious flavours to choose from and ours was Chocolate-Nutella. Everyone commented that they like the cake and most asked for second servings.

And…. it’s playtime!

We have access to party room exclusively for 2 hours and the kids get 3 hours worth of play time at the park, which in my opinion, is more than enough. I used to think a birthday party at Pororo Park is more suited for younger kids but after Lauren’s party, I think it’s actually pretty good for kindergarteners or even kids in the lower primary school age. It’s a perfect place to host a kids drop-off party where parents can go shopping and pick up the kids at the end of the party.

Goodies bags with age-appropriate merchandised were also packed and prepared by the Pororo Park team. There really wasn’t anything left for me to do except eating and chatting with our guests.

Thank you Pororo Park Singapore for the beautiful memories and for making Lauren so happy on her birthday.
